Novak Djokovic not focused on battle with Carlos Alcaraz for No.1 Spot

Novak Djokovic focused on French Open, not battle with Carlos Alcaraz for No. 1 spot.

Djokovic underlines his big goal is to be at his best at the French Open.

Novak Djokovic has highlighted that his primary focus is on being at his absolute best when the time comes for the French Open.

Following his 2023 Australian Open victory, Djokovic also replaced Carlos Alcaraz at the world No. 1 spot.

Djokovic briefly lost the world No. 1 spot after Indian Wells but returned to the top spot after Miami.

When asked about losing the world No. 1 spot to Alcaraz and then regaining it,

Djokovic underlined all of his focus is on the French Open.

Well, I’m actually placing my attention on my performances are trying to build my form, you know coming into Roland Garros.

That’s the event that I’m going to try to peek on in terms of the surface,” Djokovic said on the ATP Tennis Radio Podcast, per Tennis-Infinity.

Djokovic hopes it will be a positive clay season for him.
After winning Wimbledon last year, Djokovic was sidelined for the next two months because he wasn’t allowed to go to North America due to his vaccination status.

But when Djokovic returned to action in late September, he won three titles in the remainder of the 2022 season.

Even though missing Indian Wells and Miami wasn’t something Djokovic wanted, he is keeping a positive spirit.

“I think the form that I regained from post-US Open last year, you know, I didn’t go to America.

And then I had time to really prepare myself well, winning Wimbledon,

and then coming back and winning in Tel-Aviv indoors and then really not looking back from there.

Novak Djokovic focus’s on French Open, not battle with Carlos Alcaraz for No. 1 spot.

Of course, it’s a whole different story on this surface, hopefully the results will stay the same,” Djokovic said.

This week, Djokovic is competing at the Srpska Open in Banja Luka, where he is the top-seeded player.
