According to rumours, Oleksandr Zinchenko will sign with Arsenal for the same two reasons as his former Manchester City teammate Gabriel Jesus did. According to reports, Zinchenko is drawn to the Emirates because of the possibility of working again with Mikel Arteta and playing a key role there.
According to Express Sport, Arsenal is close to signing the Ukrainian international. Prior to the Gunners focusing on Lisandro Martinez, Zinchenko was mentioned in connection with them earlier in the window.
Although Arteta made it obvious that finding a flexible left-back was a priority this summer, Martinez has been selected by Manchester United. Zinchenko consequently resurfaced, and a deal might be close soon.
After the £45 million acquisition of Jesus, the 25-year-old is expected to become the second player from City that Arsenal has acquired this summer. Like Jesus, according to CBS Sports, Zinchenko has been persuaded to play a key role for Arsenal.
Jesus and Zinchenko, who made 21 and 10 Premier League starts respectively last season, were both bit players for Pep Guardiola. Jesus, who spent the majority of his time at City playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero, is expected to be the starting attacker for Arsenal.
Zinchenko will contend with Kieran Tierney for a berth at left-back while also playing more frequently for his nation in midfield. The two were drawn to the Gunners by the opportunity to work with Arteta once more.
Arteta served as City’s assistant from 2016 till late 2019. Following the confirmation of the Spaniard’s arrival earlier this month, Jesus had some complimentary things to say about him.
